About Capryl/Capramidopropyl Betaine
Capryl/Capramidopropyl Betaine is generally a zwitterion (internal salt).[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, and increase the amount of foam and help it resist collapsing.[2] It is also used to reduce tangling and roughness and leave hair feeling soft, smooth the skin’s surface, and lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2] It is used to adjust the viscosity and flow of formulations.[2] RCO- is a fatty acid group derived from capryl and caprylic acid.[1]
