Camphor Benzalkonium Methosulfate is a quaternary ammonium compound.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, and reduce changes to products and formula ingredients caused by ultraviolet light.[3] It is also used to absorb or reflect ultraviolet light and reduce the amount that reaches the skin.[3] In Europe, when used as a UV-protection ingredient, it is permitted at concentrations of up to 6%.[2]
