About Calcium Sorbate
Calcium Sorbate is the calcium salt of sorbic acid.[1] Its solubility and charge state depend on the components forming the salt and the formulation’s acidity, which also affects how it interacts with other ingredients. In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in a product and slow deterioration during storage.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.6% (calculated as acid content).[2]
