About C9-15 Pareth-8

C9-15 Pareth-8 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a synthetic C9-15 fatty alcohol mixture with an average of 8 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 8 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to reduce surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
