About C9-11 Pareth-8
C9-11 Pareth-8 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a synthetic mixture of C9-11 fatty alcohols with an average of 8 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 8 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; it changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to reduce surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
