About C30-50 Pareth-40

C30-50 Pareth-40 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a mixture of synthetic alcohols with an average of 40 moles of ethylene oxide and carbon chains containing 30–50 carbon atoms.[1] The number 40 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units; it changes the balance between the water-attracting and fat-attracting parts, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
