About C30-50 Alketh-40
C30-50 Alketh-40 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a mixture of synthetic alcohols with 30–50 carbon atoms and an average of 40 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly; to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water; and to help small amounts of oil-soluble ingredients mix transparently or evenly into the water phase.[2]
