About C20-40 Pareth-24

C20-40 Pareth-24 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a mixture of synthetic fatty alcohols with 20–40 carbon atoms and an average of 24 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 24 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added, changing the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving portions and affecting cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
