About C20-40 Alketh-40
C20-40 Alketh-40 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a synthetic C20-40 alcohol mixture with an average of 40 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly; to help sebum and impurities wash away with water; and to help small amounts of oil-soluble ingredients mix transparently or evenly into the water phase.[2]
