About C12-16 Alkyl PEG-2 Hydroxypropyl Hydroxyethyl Ethylcellulose
C12-16 Alkyl PEG-2 Hydroxypropyl Hydroxyethyl Ethylcellulose is a hydroxyethyl ethylcellulose derivative.[1] The number 2 indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; within the same base structure, changing this number may alter water miscibility and the formula's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to help keep emulsions of water and oil from separating, to form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, or nails after application, and to leave the skin's surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to adjust the formula's viscosity and flow.[2]
