C12-16 Alketh-9 is the polyethylene glycol ether of a synthetic mixture of C12-16 fatty alcohols containing an average of 9 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
