About C12-16 Alketh-5
C12-16 Alketh-5 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a mixture of synthetic fatty alcohols with 12–16 carbon atoms and an average of 5 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
