About C12-16 Alcohols

C12-16 Alcohols are a mixture of synthetic fatty alcohols with alkyl chains containing 12–16 carbon atoms.[1] In cosmetics, they are used to reduce static electricity that can cause hair strands to lift or stick together, reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and keep emulsions of water and oil from separating easily.[2] They are also used to reduce tangling and roughness for smoother hair, and to adjust the formulation’s viscosity and flow.[2]
