About C12-14 Sec-Pareth-9

C12-14 Sec-Pareth-9 is a polyethylene glycol ester of a mixture of C12-14 synthetic secondary alcohols with an average ethoxylation value of 9.[1] The number 9 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, help prevent the emulsified state from separating, and lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
