About C12-14 Sec-Pareth-30
C12-14 Sec-Pareth-30 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a synthetic secondary C12-14 alcohol mixture with an average ethoxylation value of 30 moles.[1] The number 30 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing, emulsifying power, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, help keep water-and-oil emulsions from separating, and lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
