About C12-14 Sec-Pareth-12
C12-14 Sec-Pareth-12 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a synthetic secondary C12-14 fatty alcohol mixture containing an average of 12 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 12 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units, changing the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions and causing differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, to help prevent the emulsion from separating easily, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
