About C12-14 Pareth-7

C12-14 Pareth-7 is the polyethylene glycol ether of a synthetic mixture of C12-14 alcohols with an average of 7 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 7 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units; it changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to reduce surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
