About C12-13 Pareth-9

C12-13 Pareth-9 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a C12-13 synthetic fatty alcohol mixture with an average of 9 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 9 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added; it changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
