C11-15 Pareth-7 is the polyethylene glycol ether of a synthetic C11-15 fatty alcohol mixture with an average of 7 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 7 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between the water-loving and fat-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying power, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly blended and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
