About C11-15 Pareth-20

C11-15 Pareth-20 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a synthetic C11-15 fatty alcohol mixture with an average of 20 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 20 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between the water-attracting and oil-attracting portions, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
