C11-15 Alketh-40 is a polyethylene glycol ether of a mixture of C11-15 synthetic fatty alcohols with an average of 40 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly; to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water; and to allow small amounts of oil-soluble ingredients to mix transparently or evenly into the water phase.[2]
