Butylglucosides Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt in which R is mainly a mixture of butyl monoglucoside and butyl diglucoside.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities be washed away with water, to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
