About Butyl Lactate

Butyl Lactate is the ester of butyl alcohol and lactic acid.[1] Its molecular size and volatility, along with the combination of fragrances used with it, may affect how quickly the scent diffuses and the persistence of the dry-down. In cosmetics, it is used to prevent the inherent odor or taste of raw materials from becoming too prominent and to dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formula.[2]
