Butoxynol-5 Carboxylic Acid is the carboxylic acid of an ethoxylated alkylphenol.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly blended, and lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
