About Butoxydiglycol

Butoxydiglycol is an ether alcohol.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help prevent the characteristic odor or taste of an ingredient from becoming too noticeable, dissolve other ingredients to create a uniform formulation, and adjust the formulation’s viscosity and flow.[3] In Europe, it may be used as a solvent in hair colorants at concentrations of up to 9%, but it cannot be used in aerosol spray products.[2]
