About Bis-PEG/PPG-20/5 PEG/PPG-20/5 Dimethicone
Bis-PEG/PPG-20/5 PEG/PPG-20/5 Dimethicone is a derivative of dimethicone containing alkoxylated side chains with an average of 20 moles of ethylene oxide and 5 moles of propylene oxide, with terminal groups substituted by an average of 20 moles of ethylene oxide and 5 moles of propylene oxide.[1] The number 20 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units; together with the type of fatty component attached, this number affects oil miscibility and application feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to help prevent the emulsified water-and-oil system from separating easily.[2]
