About Bis-PEG/PPG-14/14 Dimethicone
Bis-PEG/PPG-14/14 Dimethicone is dimethicone terminally substituted with an average of 14 moles of ethylene oxide and an average of 14 moles of propylene oxide.[1] The number 14 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units; together with the type of fatty component attached, it affects oil compatibility and application feel. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
