Bis-PEG-18 Disiloxane is a disiloxane whose terminal groups are substituted with an average of 18 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 18 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number may also alter water miscibility and the formulation's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for smoother conditioning, to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
