About Bis-PEG-12 Dimethicone Candelillate
Bis-PEG-12 Dimethicone Candelillate is a partial ester of fatty acids derived from candelilla wax that has been derivatized with dimethicone whose terminal groups are substituted by an average of 12 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 12 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; within the same base structure, changing this number may affect water dispersibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair and leave it smooth, and to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2]
