Bis-PEG-12 Dimethicone Beeswax is a partial ester of a dimethicone derivative whose terminal groups are substituted with an average of 12 moles of ethylene oxide and fatty acids derived from beeswax.[1] The number 12 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water compatibility and the formula's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce tangling and roughness for smoother hair grooming and to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2]
