About Benzyl Alcohol
Benzyl alcohol is an aromatic alcohol.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to add fragrance to products or adjust the characteristic odor of raw materials, inhibit the growth of microorganisms in products and delay deterioration during storage, and dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formula.[3] It is also used to adjust the formula's viscosity and flow.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 1.0%.[2]
