About Benzophenone-3
Benzophenone-3 is a benzophenone derivative.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help reduce changes to products and formula ingredients caused by ultraviolet radiation, and to absorb or reflect ultraviolet radiation to reduce the amount reaching the skin.[4] In Korea, it may be used at up to 2.4%. However, products used on the face, hands, and lips may contain up to 5%.[2] In Europe, when used as a UV-filtering ingredient, it is permitted at up to 6% in products for the face, hands, or lips, excluding gas-propelled or pump-spray products. In products for the body, including spray products, it may be used at up to 2.2%, and in other products at up to 0.5%.[3]
