About Benzalkonium Saccharinate

Benzalkonium Saccharinate is a mixture of alkylbenzyldimethylammonium saccharinates, in which R is a mixture of alkyl homologs consisting mainly of capryl, lauryl, myristyl, and cetyl groups.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, and reduce the prominence of unpleasant odors.[2] It is also used to inhibit microbial growth in products, delaying deterioration during storage, and to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
