About Bentonite

Bentonite is a naturally occurring hydrated colloidal aluminum silicate clay.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to absorb liquids such as water or oil in the formulation, increase the formulation's volume and adjust its solids content, and keep emulsions in which water and oil are mixed from separating easily.[3] It is also used to adjust the formulation's viscosity and flow.[3] In Europe, it may be used to color cosmetics.[2]
