About Beeswax
Beeswax is an ingredient obtained by refining wax from the honeycomb of the western honeybee.[1] Because the fatty components obtained from beeswax are predominant, it mixes better with oils than with water and is suitable for adding slip and a supple feel to skin or hair while reducing the feeling of moisture evaporating quickly. In cosmetics, it is used to help formula ingredients bind together and maintain their shape, prevent emulsions of water and oil from separating easily, and help prevent the ingredient's characteristic odor or taste from becoming too pronounced.[2] It is also used to help leave the skin's surface soft and smooth and to adjust a formula's viscosity and flow. [2] Bleached beeswax is called white wax, while unbleached beeswax is called yellow wax.[1]
