About Babassuamide Mea
Babassuamide MEA is a mixture of ethanolamides of fatty acids obtained from babassu seed oil.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to increase the amount of foam and help keep it from collapsing easily, to reduce hair tangling and roughness for smooth grooming, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] It is also used to adjust the viscosity and flow of the formulation.[3] In Europe, the secondary amine content of the finished product is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and the nitrosamine content must not exceed 50 μg/kg.[2]
