About Babassuamide DEA

Babassuamide DEA is a mixture of ethanolamides of fatty acids obtained from babassu seed oil.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to increase the amount of foam and help prevent it from collapsing quickly, to smooth hair by reducing tangling and roughness, and to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] It is also used to adjust the formulation’s viscosity and flow.[3] In Europe, the secondary amine content of the finished product is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and the nitrosamine content must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
