About Attapulgite
Attapulgite is a type of fuller's earth found mainly in Attapulgus, Georgia, USA. Unlike other clay minerals with layered structures, it is characterized by a chain structure.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to physically remove deposits from the skin or tooth surface, absorb liquids such as water or oil in formulations, and increase formulation volume and control the amount of solids. It is also used to reduce light transmission so the contents appear less visible, and to adjust formulation viscosity and flow.[2] [2]
