Astragalus Gummifer Gum is a dried resinous exudate obtained from Astragalus.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help ingredients in a formula bind together and maintain its form, keep emulsions of water and oil from separating easily, and form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, or nails after application.[2] It is also used to keep the characteristic odor or flavor of raw materials from becoming too pronounced and to adjust the formula’s viscosity and flow.[2]
