Arachidyl/Behenyl Alcohol is a fatty alcohol fraction consisting mainly of Behenyl Alcohol and Arachidyl Alcohol obtained from seed oils of various species.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, increase the amount of foam and help prevent it from collapsing easily, and help water-insoluble ingredients disperse more evenly in the aqueous phase.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so that raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly, and so that solid particles or droplets disperse evenly instead of clumping together.[2]
