About Ammonium Bisulfite

Ammonium Bisulfite is an inorganic salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used in products that create waves or straighten hair to help change its shape, to slow deterioration during storage by inhibiting the growth of microorganisms in the product, and to cause reactions that reduce other ingredients.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.2% based on the free sulfur dioxide content.[2]
