2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1,3-Diol is a substituted aliphatic diol.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in products and slow deterioration during storage.[4] In Korea, it may be used at up to 0.1%, but it cannot be used in products containing amines or amides.[2] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.1%.[3]
