About Triclosan

Triclosan is a substituted organoether.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce the prominence of unpleasant odors and to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in products, helping delay deterioration during storage.[3] In Europe, it is permitted at up to 0.3% when used as a preservative.[2] However, it cannot be used in products for children under 3 years of age.[2]
