About Tea-Canolate

TEA-Canolate is the triethanolamine salt of fatty acids liberated from canola oil.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help wash away sebum and impurities with water, create emulsion formulas in which water and oil are evenly blended, and form foam during use.[3] It is also used to reduce surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, the maximum concentration is 2.5% in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is set for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
