About Tallow Dihydroxyethyl Betaine

Tallow Dihydroxyethyl Betaine is a zwitterion (inner salt).[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or cling to one another, to help sebum and impurities be washed away with water, and to form foam during use.[2] It is also used to reduce tangling and roughness in hair for smoother manageability, to leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth, and to reduce surface tension so that raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2] It is used to control the viscosity and flow of formulations.[2]
