About Tallow Amine

Tallow Amine is a primary aliphatic amine derived from tallow acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or cling together, to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly blended, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, the secondary amine content in finished products is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and nitrosamine content must not exceed 50 μg/kg.[2]
