About Sodium/Tea-Undecylenoyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein

Sodium/Tea-Undecylenoyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein is a mixture of sodium and triethanolamine salts produced by the condensation reaction of undecylenic acid chloride and hydrolyzed wheat protein.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and dirt rinse away with water, reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for smoother manageability, and leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth.[3] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, the maximum concentration is 2.5% in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is set for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
