About Sodium PEG-4 Lauramide Sulfate
Sodium PEG-4 Lauramide Sulfate is the sodium salt of the sulfate ester of the polyethylene glycol amide of lauric acid, containing an average of 4 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 4 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. In the same base structure, changing this number may affect water miscibility and the formula's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, and to form foam during use.[2] It is also used to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair and leave it smooth and manageable.[2]
