About Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is the sodium salt of lauryl sulfate.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, to alter the taste or odor of raw materials so they are less likely to be ingested, and to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[3] It is also used to generate foam during use and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] It is described as a white to pale yellow liquid, so the order and temperature used when mixing it with other liquid raw materials affect the uniformity of the finished product.[2]
