About Sodium Laureth-13 Carboxylate
Sodium Laureth-13 Carboxylate is the sodium salt of the carboxylic acid derived from Laureth-13.[1] The number 13 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added and changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and form foam during use.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
